Doug Wilson Is Wrong About Worship

In this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast, Chris Hume responds to three clips that reveal a serious confusion of priorities in parts of the Reformed world.

First, Doug Wilson claims that Sunday worship is the most important thing a Christian does. Chris explains why this statement, though common, actually inverts the biblical order. God repeatedly shows us that He values justice and righteousness more highly than ritual and religious observance. Second, Wilson makes a revealing comment about structuring laws to achieve desired outcomes. Chris pushes back on the idea that we are called to tinker with or redesign God’s Law in order to get better results. Finally, Chris addresses a statement from Dan Horn, who argued that speeding is a sin and that churches should not elect pastors who speed. This comment exposes a deeper problem: treating man-made regulations as moral law.

Throughout the episode, Chris argues that we have largely inverted God’s priority list. Justice and righteousness are weightier matters than liturgy and institutional worship — and when we get this backwards, we distort the Christian life.
